From June to August 2018, the American author and journalist Jay Rosen stayed as a Richard von Weizsäcker Fellow at the Robert Bosch Academy. During his stay, Jay Rosen dedicated himself to the question: What are the general assumptions that German journalists make about what “good” journalism is and how does it differ from the assumptions American journalists make? In a guest article at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, he addresses the German press in an open letter. From his position as an outsider who visited Germany, he gives advice to German journalists. His thoughts are based on the observations he made and on the 53 interviews he conducted during his stay in Berlin.
