At the end of his stay François Heisbourg, Chairman of the International Institute for Strategic Studies, looked back on his time at the Robert Bosch Academy and lined out the most striking challenges ahead for Europe:
"One is internal and that is where to take the European Union from where it is: in a very unhappy, divided, traumatized situation. The second set of challenges is external and that is the Post-Cold War Order in Russia. And, similarly, the breakup of the territorial and the political order in the Middle East."
Speaking about his experiences at the Academy, François Heisbourg highlights that its approach is quite original "because you have fare numbers of institutions which offer support and grants for scholars who are beginning their career. But there are actually very few places in which people are already fully engaged."
