Senem Aydın-Düzgit is a Senior Scholar and the Research and Academic Affairs Coordinator at Istanbul Policy Center and a Professor of International Relations at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of Sabancı University.
From 2013 to 2016, she was Jean Monnet Chair of EU Political and Administrative Studies in the Department of International Relations at Istanbul Bilgi University. Before teaching at Bilgi University, she worked as a Research Fellow in the EU Foreign Policy Unit of the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) in Brussels. Her main research interests include European foreign policy, Turkish foreign policy, discourse studies, and politics of identity. She has also conducted research and published in the field of international democracy support, both in the context of European foreign policy through enlargement and Turkish foreign policy. Senem holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Vrije Universiteit Brussels, an MSc in European Politics and Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a BA in Political Science and International Relations from Boğaziçi University.
Her articles have been published in numerous journals and edited volumes. She is the author of Is Turkey De-Europeanising? (with Alper Kaliber), Turkey and the European Union (with Nathalie Tocci), and Constructions of European Identity. She is a member of the ECFR Council, a board member of the Centre for Economics and Foreign Policy Studies (EDAM), a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the Institute for European Politics (IEP), and a member of the Carnegie Rising Democracies Network. She also serves as the Associate Editor of South European Society and Politics and the Co-Editor of “The Future of Europe” Book Series. Senem was awarded the Young Scientist Award of Turkey’s Science Academy (BAGEP) in 2014 and has been admitted as a Fellow of the Young Academy of Europe (YAE) in the beginning of 2020.
