Fellows in Berlin
Mark Lowcock
During my fellowship, I want to study how the relationship between Europe and Africa might evolve over the next generation, including the scope for enhanced partnerships in the areas of development, investment, trade, cultural ties, people movement, education and health issues, tax and public finance, and governance.

Kwame Akyeampong
I’m interested in how formal education systems in sub-Sahara Africa can be reconfigured and repurposed to maximise the potential of Africa’s demographic dividend. In particular, what changes can deliver improved learning outcomes and tackle the educational and skills needs of disadvantaged and marginalised students to drive its developmental agenda.

During my fellowship, I plan to examine how different constituencies of researchers, policymakers and civil society actors understand issues of gender justice in the context of climate change and what pathways to a just transition do they advocate? I am interested in the overlaps and tensions across these constituencies and how they might vary across the global North and South.

During my fellowship, I intend to address climate governance and assess to climate finance by facilitating the development of youth-led initiatives focused on climate resilience in the Middle East, North Africa, and conflict-affected Least Developed Countries

Kwasi Prempeh
I am interested in the roles of constitutional design and regional organizations in democratic collapse, backsliding, and resilience. Can we draw comparative lessons from post-Soviet Central and Eastern European democracies to understand the trajectories of post-1990 democratic projects in Africa?

I'm curious about Germany's adoption of a feminist foreign policy. Could integrating feminist principles advance the rights and well-being of people of all genders, religions, and ethnic backgrounds? What does it imply for domestic policies and politics? How might it influence other countries and impact social justice movements globally?
